ART OF MY SOUL DAY 12: CONGRATULATIONS YOU'VE BEEN CONFIRMED

If you were expecting a golden ticket ala Willy Wonka style, you would go postal, right?  I don't mean in a violent way (unless there was no golden ticket) but I do mean waiting outside your door for the guy in the blue polyester uniform AKA the postman.
Me staking my claim on a blank wall at a gallery.  I think it worked!

After casually stalking the mailbox (if there is such a thing as a casual stalker...), I began to wonder if I would hear the good news via some other channel.

I almost scrolled right past the email.  I could only see the first few words that read,

"Hello (insert my name), Congratulations!"

This was it.  My painting, "Limbs on a Whim" had been chosen by an art jury (those judging your art) to be a part of the Onyx Fine Arts Collective 8th Annual Art Exhibition.

Excitement.  Joy.  Happy dance.  Praising God.  Shouting.  Drumming.  High Fives.  Phone calls.  Then I rushed out of my room and into my in-home art studio to look at the piece that had been confirmed.  The piece that had been confirmed as worthy of showing...

The one piece out of the four I submitted, was the only one that I can honestly say was painted from an unknown place.  The others had been sketched, planned and plotted.  I had no preconceived notions, no paint schemes, really nothing.  It was painted on a whim.    I think I may have been watching T.V. in between brush strokes.

The only painting where I did not let 'me' get in the way.  My judgments, assessments, beliefs, thoughts etc...did not get in the way.  What resulted was something pure.

At any rate, it was nice to be confirmed by fellow artists and those deemed as art experts.      The real confirmation started when I decided to enter my pieces in the first place.  This real confirmation goes beyond someone opening their wallet to purchase my piece.  Don't get me wrong.  Monetary confirmation is a great way to confirm your piece rocks!

I am just stating that I will be fine either way because I did something new.  Something I have never done before and that is to have a painting in a position to be sold.  My own confirmation to myself is absolutely priceless!  Cheers to this chapter in my life!

What's the latest new thing you've done?  What has it recently confirmed for you?
