LAUNCH DAY 14: What's your L.A.U.N.C.H. STYLE?

Day 14: on the launchpad: L.A.U.N.C.H. Style...

I've been around many aspiring entrepreneurs who all have amazing stories of how their great idea came to them.  The biggest difference is how we go about launching our dreams.  We all have what I like to call L.A.U.N.C.H. Styles.

A brave friend of mine gracefully living her dream.
Lazy Launcher
You know who you are.  You're the one who has a million ideas but you're too lazy to launch.  Can we even call you a LaunchStar?!  I know it sounds harsh but you are depriving the world of your brilliance!  Basically, you're creatively stingy.  You could benefit from a healthy dose of "Fire in That A$$!"

Ambitious Launcher
You are similar to the lazy launcher in the sense that you have a million ideas and you want to launch them all perhaps even at the same time.  However, with you it's simply a lack of focus.  Once focused however, you excel and can often enjoy multiple successful launches back to back.

Undercover Launcher
Perhaps, the most elusive of them all.  Focus is your best friend.  You are so focused that no one else even knows what you've been up to.  If others often ask, "Hey, where have you've been?"  or make comments like this on your Grand Opening Night, "Wow, you're hair has grown back quite nicely since shaving it and becoming a monk...," you probably are an Undercover Launcher.  It's okay though because your ninja like moves have allowed you to channel all of your energy into your dreams without making a peep.

Once you emerge from your creative cave with eyes squinted and a pale arm (due to lack of sun) covering your face , you usually have something amazing to show for it.  However, the world needs to see your face.  Otherwise, when you finally do appear at the launch party no one will recognize you and you'll get sent to the back of the line at your own red carpet event...much like that pale arm...not cute!

Not Right Now But (NRNB)...Launcher
Excuses.  Excuses.  Excuses.  The NRNB Launcher is a third cousin to the Lazy Launcher.  But instead of having a million ideas you have a million reasons why you can't launch one idea.

The timing is not right.  You're waiting for the next leap year because February 29th carries huge significance and the idea came on March 1st.  You're a bit outlandish to say the least.  If you just got out of your own way and decided to redirect your uncanny ability to come up with excuses and start issuing permission slips to yourself  your dream could become a reality.  Do yourself a favor and surrender to the launch process.

Casual Launcher
Never one to fully commit.  You dabble in this.  You dabble in that.  You're not associated with one but many different launch projects in various stages in the process.  Sometimes you feel like being part of an unfunded startup.  Other times you're in the mood for something with promising venture capital potential.  Either way, you flirt with the idea of launching but never fully see the process through from start to finish.

You get in where you fit in and bounce to the next great idea sometimes on a whim.  The variety of experiences is what does it for you.  I suggest taking a moment to embark on a clarity journey until it's clear what you want.

Holistic Launcher
Ahhhh, alas the Holistic see the idea from beginning to end.  You develop a detailed action plan sometimes even a business plan that includes a list of ideal leaders to approach as potential Board of Directors.  The business cards and stationary have been designed along with the perfect logo.  The website domain name was acquired a year ago in anticipation of this very moment.

The only problem is the plan you so thoughtfully put together is missing one critical thing...ACTION.  Your grand idea is in your head or stuck within the four corners of your sheet of paper.  It must be brought to life.  Only you can do this.  Take the time to ask yourself some questions.  What's keeping me from moving on my dreams?  Is this an issue of timing?  What steps can I take today to move closer to launching?

I am almost certain I have experienced all of these L.A.U.N.C.H. Styles at one point or another.  The ART of the LAUNCH really is fascinating and so is punctuation.  Just look at the periods between the word 'L.A.U.N.C.H.'   What if we just removed the periods (much like the things that can stop us from taking those first steps) and just decided to LAUNCH?!  What a novel concept...?!
