DAY 10: The ART of IMPROMPTU

Day 10:  The Art of the evening is impromptu...
(made or done without previous preparation)

I just came back from an amazing dinner with a new and already dear friend.  She called earlier this afternoon, apologized for the last minute invitation and asked if I wanted to come over for dinner.  Damn, was my belly that loud??  FYI, there is never such thing as last minute dinner invitations if you have cooked a fabulous vegetarian friendly meal.

I called another mutual friend who seemed more excited than me!  Before I could even do a successful tuck and roll into her car, she sent me a text message with the instruction and/or threat to "chop chop."  It was hard to tell.  Given how hungry she was and the fact that she had yoga class immediately following, I erred on the side of safety and picked up the pace.

We speeded over to Rainier Valley for a wonderful meal.  When you hear impromptu it is tempting to get it confused with thrown together or last minute but not with this particular friend.

She is an elegant woman who exudes beauty and grace all the way down to her matching fine china, crystal water goblets, spotless silverware, tea service, cloth napkins, perfect lighting and soothing music suitable for fine dining and stimulating conversation.

Spicy Kale and Rainbow Chard Salad with Rice and Kichri (curry lentils, believed to aid in digestion).  There was also curry duck!

All who know me, know I love and appreciate a fine cup of African Red Roobois Tea and/or Lavender  Tea.  This tea was Red Lavender Tea; the best of both worlds.   Was I just seduced?!  The Raisinets and sesame almonds were the perfect sweet and crunchy dessert.

Did I mention that this was not planned?!  This is just how she rolls!  Meal time is a daily production of grace and thoughtfulness mixed with touches of fancy and femininity.

Every time I visit, I feel ultra womanly, cared for and super special...all from a meal laced with her presence.  It almost seems effortless.  I enjoyed every minute.  At best, I think I would be able to put together an impromptu snack...a meal would be asking for a miracle.  Although, I have now been inspired to attempt such a feat.  She definitely has the ART of IMPROMPTU beautifully mastered.  Wouldn't you agree?
